MEET THE DIRECTOR... Holly Lewis, a native of Grove City, OH, has been the Director of Choirs at Worthington Kilbourne HS since 2016. Prior to WKHS, she completed a Master of Music in Choral Conducting at Michigan State University. While completing coursework, Ms. Lewis served as a graduate assistant for undergraduate conducting, and gave multiple presentations to undergraduate choral methods classes. She also served as the assistant conductor for State Singers and Women’s Glee Club, while performing in Chorale, Women's Chamber Ensemble, Chamber Choir, Concert Orchestra and Concert Band. Ms. Lewis taught multiple summer music camps at Michigan State's Community Music School as well. She had the distinct honor to work with inspirational educators and conductors such as Dr. David Rayl, Dr. Sandra Snow, and Dr. Jonathan Reed. As a member of the American Choral Directors Association , Ohio Music Educators Association, and Michigan Music Educators Association, she attended many professional conferences and presented sessions at the Michigan Music Conferences entitled, “Sight-reading Strategies: Teaching Music Literacy in the Choral Classroom" and "Passionate Preparations: Effective Warm-Ups in the Choral Classroom." In addition to her activities at Michigan State, Mrs. Pemberton also served as the Music Leader at All Saints Episcopal Church in East Lansing, Michigan.
Prior to Michigan State, Ms. Lewis served as the Director of Choirs at Olentangy High School in Lewis Center, Ohio, where she worked with over 125 students in five concert choirs and a competitive, award-winning show choir. Under her direction, the show choir consistently performed in finals at competitions, winning two grand champions, and traveled to New York City, St. Louis, and Branson, Missouri. Concert choirs under her direction consistently received Superior Ratings at OMEA District and State Adjudicated Events. In addition to teaching in the Olentangy Local School District, she also taught private horn lessons to middle school and high school students in Grove City, Ohio. Holly Lewis holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree in both Choral and Instrumental music from The Ohio State University. As a horn player and vocalist at Ohio State, Mrs. Pemberton performed in The Ohio State University Marching Band, Wind Symphony, Orchestra, Symphonic Choir, and Women’s Glee Club. She also served as secretary of the music sorority, Tau Beta Sigma. While at Ohio State, Ms. Lewis worked with distinguished faculty including Dr. Hilary Apfelstadt, Dr. Robert J. Ward, Dr. Leila Heil, Dr. Jon Woods, Dr. Russell Mikkelson, Dr. Richard L. Blatti, and Mr. Jonathan Waters. While student teaching at Worthington Kilbourne High School, Pemberton had the honor to work with Mr. Don Nathan and Mr. Larry Griffin. MEET THE PIANIST...Mr. Tyler Domer is originally from the Northwest Ohio town of Bluffton, Ohio. He graduated from Capital University with a degree in Keyboard Pedagogy. He studied piano with Dr. Tianshu Wang and organ with Chad Baker. During his time at Capital, Tyler had the distinct pleasure of singing with the prestigious Chapel Choir under the direction of the amazing, Dr. Lynda Hasseler. Tyler has been accompanying musicals, choirs, and soloists since he was a freshman in high school. In this time he has found that accompanying is something he's truly passionate about.
In addition to collaborating with the Worthington Kilbourne High School Choirs, Tyler is also the choral accompanist at Olentangy High School and combo director for their show choir, the "Keynotes." Tyler currently resides in Upper Arlington. When not playing, he enjoys running, finding good shows on Netflix, and spending time with family. |
